Kindergarten is the beginning of a formal educational process where a child will interact with his/her peers and teachers to discover a new learning environment. Allegheny Valley began a full-day Kindergarten program in the 2013-14 school year. This program follows the regular elementary day schedule. It consists of instruction in the core subject areas and a full range of special subjects. Essential Kindergarten skills are taught, allowing for more in-depth skill development for students.
Requirements for Kindergarten
Children turning age 5 before September 1st of the school year are eligible for admission to Kindergarten classes. Kindergarten registration is usually held during the month of March. At this time, parents are asked to come to the Acmetonia Elementary School office to complete all necessary paperwork and schedule an appointment for the screening of their child. These appointments are held in the month of June and evaluate readiness skills of the student. Parents must present an original birth certificate, proof of residency, and a complete record of immunization for their child at the March registration.
2021-2022 Kindergarten Registration
The Allegheny Valley School District will conduct Kindergarten Registration for the 2021-2022 school year in March. Registration will also be held at an evening event for incoming Kindergarten students. Parents of prospective Kindergarten students should stop at the Acmetonia Elementary School office during this time to register their child. Prospective Kindergarten students do not need to attend this registration. Screenings for students will be held in June by appointments made during registration. All students registering for Kindergarten must be 5 years of age by September 1, 2018. Parents are asked to bring the student's original birth certificate, the student's updated immunization records, and proof of residency. No student will be permitted to enter school unless these documents are verified at registration. Please call the Acmetonia Elementary School office at 724-274-6500 with any questions.
