Student Device Collection 2026

Dear Allegheny Valley School District Students and Families:

 

As we approach the end of the school year, the Technology Department is preparing for the collection of all student 1:1 devices per request of the AVSD School Board.  Please be advised that 100% of student devices—including Chromebooks, Chrome Tablets, and assigned chargers—must be returned for inspection and inventory before summer break.

Collection will occur on dates and times dependent on grade level or homeroom assignment. For some groups, collection will begin as early as May 27. All collections must be finalized by the end of the school day on June 04.  A detailed schedule is included below.

Exceptions: Students participating in AVSD-approved summer courses/academic activities may retrieve their devices during the first week of summer break, provided the equipment has first been inspected by tech staff. They must still be collected prior to the end-of-day June 4, 2026.

DVA

Details regarding the collection of devices from Dynamo Virtual Academy students will be distributed separately. 
Collection may be on an individual basis.  Students enrolled in DVA classes over summer must still return their device briefly for inspection and verification purposes. 

 

Expected absence? If your student is unable to attend school on their scheduled collection day due to a planned absence, please make arrangements with their homeroom teacher to return the device and charger early. 

 

Per the Student 1:1 Handbook, all equipment must be accounted for.  Any missing or damaged items may result in a fine. Common replacement and repair costs include:

  • Replacement Charger: $35
  • Chromebook Screen Replacement: $40
  • Unrepairable/Lost Device: $300
