Welcome Back SHS Dynamos!!
It is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great school year at Springdale Jr-Sr High School. Welcome new 7th grade students and new students to our family!! We are all excited to have students back in our classrooms and our hallways filled with enthusiasm and excitement. We will be doing great things again this school year. I hope that you are enjoying your last few weeks of summer and have some awesome stories to share.
Career & workplace development will be a strong area of focus during the next few years. We will be supporting students on new ways of learning and new ways of working. In addition, we will be exploring new future career pathways.
First day of School Information:
School begins for students on Monday, August 26, 2019. The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:32 p.m. Students are expected to be in their homerooms by 7:40 a.m. and ready to learn every day. Food and drink are not permitted in the classrooms, students need to arrive early and eat breakfast before the school day begins.
The parent/student portal will be inactive until the first day of school. All accounts should be active as of August 15th. If you have questions about your account please call the main office at the high school and ask for Mrs. Cole, 724-274-8100.
All students have been scheduled into their classes. Enclosed you will find your child’s schedule. Students are scheduled into their core classes first followed by elective courses. All students are to follow their designated schedule for the first day of school. We try to accommodate schedule requests as best as we can, but it is not always possible or honored. If a student requests a schedule change, then they must fill out a ‘Schedule Change Form’ found in the high school main office and on the website. Students must write on the form a rationale as to why they may be requesting a course change. The form needs to be turned into Mrs. Medure, who is the guidance secretary. Please see the following for the list of procedures.
First Day of School:
A tremendous amount of energy goes into the beginning of the school year from the students, parents, teachers and staff members. We all want it to start off right, in order for the students to have a successful year. We encourage parent involvement, as it is still very important at this age. You may also visit our website for updated information throughout the school year. I wish everyone a great school year!
