The Allegheny Valley School District continues to emphasize the importance of academics in its classrooms, procedures, and activities. Staff and students alike understand that although education incorporates many areas, academics must play a key role. To that end, Springdale Jr-Sr High School offers several opportunities to recognize students for high academic achievement.

Began in 1984 to award high achievement, an Honors Banquet was developed by the high school guidance department and administration. The District hosts this event each May in conjunction with the Allegheny Valley Education Association (AVEA) and the Springdale Jr-Sr High School Student Council. The event brings together staff, students, and their parents to celebrate high academic achievements of the school year. To qualify for the banquet, a student must average 94% or higher for the first three quarters of the school year.
