The Pennsylvania Right to Know Act is a series of laws designed to guarantee that the public has access to public records of governmental bodies
in Pennsylvania. The new Right to Know or Open Records Law (Act 3 of 2008) took effect on January 1, 2009. This law presumes that all documents
of all governmental bodies will be presumed to be open to the public unless the agency holding them can prove otherwise.
The Allegheny Valley Board of School Directors recognizes the importance of access to public records. The public has the right, under law, to inspect
and to procure copies of such records with certain exceptions subject to Pennsylvania’s Right to Know Law. Any citizen may request, in writing,
a document of the District. This request must be made to the District’s Open Records Officer:
Ms. Hamsini Rajgopal
Business Manager
Allegheny Valley School District
300 Pearl Avenue
Cheswick, PA 15024
The District will respond to the request in five business days of receipt. Fees may apply for access and/or copies of the requested information.
