From the District:
UPDATE - xMarch 30, 2020x
As you may have heard, another mandate was given today from the Governor to extend school closures, this time indefinitely. Although it is disappointing to lose more of the school year, the outcome this measure supports will be worth it for all of us.
Let’s look at the positives: our community has definitely lived up to its Dynamo nickname. People are helping each other, sharing kindness to weather the difficulties. Our medical personnel, first responders, and necessary work force continue to operate to help us through this emergency. In the District, an Extended Meal Program services students, communication continues, and online remote learning has begun.
While all events throughout the rest of the school year are under discussion by the administration, we remain optimistic. With the timeline for the closure unknown, it is difficult to make any concrete plans. However, the intent remains to hold major District events when possible. All decisions on events will be made when the situation becomes more stable.
We know that there are many more questions than answers. At a time when so much is unknown, we have faith that what is important will endure.
A number of years ago, the District had for its annual theme “Together, we can.” The motto stressed the fact that together the Allegheny Valley Community could get through anything. That thought holds true today, especially in a time different from any we have known. We can get through this, we will get through this, together.
In the meantime, we can’t stress enough to continue social distancing and other preventative measures. Take care of your families, your neighbors, and yourselves.
