As part of an ongoing initiative to increase safety at District athletic events, a bag search will go into affect at the Friday,
September 20 football game. The plan will be for all bags larger than 12” X 6” X 12” to be searched by District officials at the entry gates. The District
also reserves the right to inspect any size bag brought to the facility, and requests that backpacks and large bags not be brought into the stadium. Searches
may include a visual search and/or the use of a detector wand.
In addition, the following procedures implemented at prior games will be continued: reduced traffic in field locations, no loitering or standing behind
team benches or along the fencing behind team benches, no large play area for student use. Those in attendance may also see an increased police
presence at all athletic events.
School districts throughout the area continue to implement safety policies at stadiums and athletic events, making the security process more efficient
and effective. The Allegheny Valley School District remains committed to establishing first-rate athletic events, and safety at Veterans’ Field
and other District athletic venues is essential to maintaining this experience.
As always, the District appreciates your understanding and support as we implement changes for the safety of all.
